WhatsApp family tree

Make your family tree on WhatsApp, together

Your relatives are already on WhatsApp. With KulaBook they add themselves to the family tree by answering a few questions in a chat: no app to install and no account to create. You see the tree take shape as each person replies.

Create your family space

How it works

  1. Add a relative

In your family space, add a relative with their name and WhatsApp number. You can add a whole branch this way, one person at a time.

  2. Ask for their details

Open the relative and choose Ask for details on WhatsApp. KulaBook sends them a short note saying who is asking and why. Nothing is asked until they reply YES.

  3. They answer in the chat

Their name, gender, date of birth, email and address, then their father, mother, spouse and children. They can skip any question, and replying STOP ends the conversation at any step.

  4. The tree grows

When they confirm, their details are saved, and their parents, spouse and children are linked to them in the tree. Anyone they name who is not in the tree yet is added, ready to be asked in turn.

Family events on WhatsApp

Announce a wedding, a puja or a reunion to the whole family on WhatsApp and email, and gather the photos afterwards in the Family Album.

In your family's language

The WhatsApp messages are available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Gujarati, so every generation can take part.

Told, and in control

Relatives are told when they are added, and get a private link to see, correct or remove their details without joining. Your family space is stored in India and walled off from every other family.

Stories and photos

The chat collects the facts. The stories behind the names are written on the Story Board, and photos go in the Family Album, on the website or the Android app. An admin reviews each story before the family sees it.

Which plans include WhatsApp

WhatsApp is part of every yearly plan. The 30-day free trial lets you build the tree and its stories on the web first; WhatsApp starts when you choose a yearly plan. See plans and prices, or read how KulaBook keeps a vanshavali across generations.
