Online vanshavali

Keep your family's vanshavali online, with every branch

A vanshavali records a family's line through the generations. Many families keep theirs in a notebook, on a chart, or in the memory of one elder. KulaBook keeps it as a living family tree that relatives on every branch can add to, so the record no longer depends on one book or one person.

Start your family's vanshavali

Every generation, both sides

Add parents, spouses, children and siblings, going back as far as the family remembers and forward as children are born. The father's line and the mother's line sit in one tree, and each marriage keeps its dates. Each person can carry a nickname and a maiden name, so the names relatives actually used are kept alongside the formal ones.

Dates in your tradition

Choose the family's religion, and each birth date is also read in its tradition: Hijri, Nanakshahi, Buddhist Era or Parsi dates are shown with it. With Kulabook tokens, a horoscope with nakshatra, rashi and tithi can be worked out from a relative's birth details, seen only by you. Dates of death are kept too, with the age at death.

Each branch adds its own

Relatives add their own details by answering a few questions on WhatsApp, naming their parents, spouse and children, so each branch of the family fills in the part it knows best. See how the WhatsApp family tree works.

The stories behind the names

A vanshavali is more than names. Relatives write the stories behind them on the Story Board, keep the photographs in the Family Album, and Kulabook, the family book, can turn the tree and its stories into a book, one chapter per year.

Gotra, native place and more

An admin can note what a family keeps with each person, such as their gotra, native village or kuladevata, in that person's notes in the tree.

Private to your family

Your vanshavali stays in your family's own space, stored in India and walled off from every other family. You choose whom to invite, relatives are told when they are added, and a child's details need a parent's consent. Start with a 30-day free trial for up to 10 people, then choose a yearly plan when the whole family joins.
